Whilst tidying up my research, for my family tree, I happened upon this great interesting web site: for a native Liverpudlian, there are lots of interesting topics here. I don\'t know whether these posts are monitored and replied to; but, if they are, I would be grateful if someone would drop me an email and let me know. |

I was doing my family tree and discovered I had an ancestor who got married in August 1842 with his occupation listed as \'fireman\'. I wondered would Liverpool have had a fire brigade in those days so I googled and lo and behold the account of the big fire of September that year. I\'m sure he\'ll have been in attendance, much good though it did the poor souls who perished. A very interesting site all round, will have a further browse. Cheers. |

I have written family records that my grandmother ( Gertrude Eason) was born in Liverpool. Her parents were John and Eason and Sarah Louise Griffith Eason. She was one of ten children. The record indicates that the family was related to President William Henry Harrison on the Eason side. Her maternal grandfather\'s picture hangs in Art Gallery of Liverpool. |

I am trying to discover information about a William Matthews who went down in his ship at the beginning of World war 2. He lived in Huyton and was due to retire when the war broke out. It was during a battle involving the Ark Royal. I was told he went down in the Engine room of the Ark Royal but I think that was a falsehood. He was a Stoker engineer. Maybe I am fighting a losing battle? |

Compliments on a brilliant site! My brick wall is the death of David Griffiths born in Chester 1832 but lived in Liverpool from 1851. Was in the merchant navy and have found some records at National Archives. Not found after 1881 census and have never found his \'marriage\' to Jane Susannah White. They had 10 children, all baptised, and Jane on the 1911 census has the surname of White, maybe a sign that they never married. Jane died in 1912 and is buried in Kirkdale Cemetery but where is David? Have found a death at sea in 1883 for a David Griffiths aged 50 but he was master of the \'Mabel\' and was born in Cork. Would love to know what happened to David, Can anybody help? Keep up the good work with the site, it\'s a mine of information. Many thanks Lynda |

He was on secondment to the PilkingtonGlass factry in Liverpool, where he was an inspectoor of glass. He returned home to Dublin and at the time he owned up to having 6 children withhis wife. I read \'somewhere\' that \'Victorian Liverpool was the world center for watch making.\' I have forgotten where I saw it, and I can\'t find it anywhere else. I\'m beginning to wonder if it\'s true. My interest is that my ancestor was a watch-case maker in Liverpool - Nicholson Lee. |

Loved reading some of the articles on your site. I originally looked at it to see if I could find any names I was researching on my family tree but unfortunately I didn\'t come across one. I did however find the newspapers fascinating to read, so thank you for that. I was looking for any links to Ann/Annie Charnock born about 1857, father Henry and mother Mary who were living in Knotty Ash in 1857. |

Love reading your website - thank you. I have been doing family history for a long time now and wondering if anyone knows how I can trace a John Morgan, born c.1892, father\'s name Alexander. His connection to Liverpool was banns called in 1916 at Mossley Hill for his marriage to Elizabeth Rose Mary Reynolds from Wiltshire. John was a farm bailiff at the time. Thanks |
