United Fruit's move to the Philippines (1960s-70s)

Dear all,

I am a PhD student working on a history of the Philippine Cavendish banana sector. I am looking for material indicating the transfer of knowledge, people, tools, technologies, management strategies, etc. from the Central American plantations to the Philippines, particularly in the early days of Cavendish production in the Philippines (1966 onwards).

E.g. some materials indicate that the first planting material was shipped to the Philippines in 1966 by Standard Fruits from Honduras and Costa Rica. Also management staff made the same move (up until today).

Where I could find more materials on such transfers? The US-based companies involved in those early days are United Fruits/Chiquita, Standard Fruits/Dole and Del Monte/Castle&Cooke.

Kind regards,

Robin Thiers
