My granddaughter is a 1 1/2 year old female. Situation one: she is okay and then mother comes home she starts being clingy and sreaming. Nothing will make her stop. It also might happen when 6 yr old brother comes home but not with father.
Situation Two: When she does not get her way she starts screaming. Although the "thing" which caused her to scream to get is presented she continues to scream and carry on.
We have tried various techniques including exclusion from room, attempted redirection, etc.
We are talking screaming for a good half hour to forty-five minutes or more.
We have ruled out separation anxiety. There is something wrong.
My wife and I are educators (preschool and special education) and have considerable background in child psych. No clue...ideas? Advice?
