I need advice. I have a almost 5 year old son who has behavior problems. He hits other children and uses words like "buttcrack" and "butthead". This has become a problem at his daycare and they have had to send him home, which can and will become a problem for my job. I am a single mother living with my mother. We don't like to spank and time outs don't seem to work with him. He has lately been really upset about having to leave school when this occurs.

I was raised in the church and was spanked as a child so I don't think that it is necessarily abuse to spank your child if it is done properly.

I am at my wits end though and really would like to hear from other parents who may have gone through something like this or are going through this. I have a fear that if we don't get this under control that he will grow up to be the next child with a gun or worse at school. Please help any advise is welcome.

Wow. I was spanked as a child. As I got older I lashed out at other kids at school. Be consistent with time out, do not spank, because you are teaching your 5 year old to hit. I made the same mistake with my boy.It is even harder to rectify the damage. What does you child really like? Is there something they would miss if taken away from them? TV etc...
Ps Never punish a child by with holding love. When your child is good ' over do 'the praise as much as possible.
