Temper in a 1yr old

My partner and I have a 1 year old who is an absolute star. but........... she seems to have rather a bad temper which manifests itself in her lashing out and bashing her mother and occasionally me. These actions seem quite violent and I'm sure it's just a phase.
She is able to communicate with us very well when it comes to food, sleep. water etc but I don't want this lashing out to develop as her years do.
Can anyone give us some ideas.

Re: Temper in a 1yr old

A child is one year old from 12 months to 23 months and there is a big difference in how they should be treated. The younger ones should be shown in both actions and words that the behavior is not acceptable. Talk to them and remove them to a place, in a crib, where they know they are being punished. An older child, a swat on the butt is always good. (i know all the crap about violence teaching violence) but the child is not going to like and remember the spanking, much more than a one minute timeout. It worked for my kids.
