My 9 year old son has been talking about girls for more than a year now. We spent time on it. Ignored it. Had long discussions on it but looks like it goes away for some time but the thoughts come back. I don't know how to handle this situation and tell him that it is too early for all this.

Having been the same way myself at too early of an age I would say that you may have serious cause for alarm. ALthough I think it's natural after a boy discovers that girls are different to have an interest in this difference, It is possible that SOmeone is showing him the difference through personal contact or pornography.
If at that age he has more than a rudimentary knowlege, you may want to seek the help of a professional. Good luck and god bless you!

Your son sounds smart, sometimes the best thing to say is that they just aren't old enough to act like that or to like certain things. Also censor your childs tv, maybe even see what kind of friends he has. Its not unusual for a boy to start liking girls at this age, it just has to be a clean way. You can show them this or straight out tell them them this and practice what you preech by bringing up examples of how to treat people just in everday life.

Its all part of growing up. This is the 21st century, things have changed. Tv, surroundings, school, everything. I wouldn't be alarmed at this, you son is probably just more aware of the world around him than you think.
