my neighbour asked me why do i think her 1yo son sticks his fingers down his throat and last night made himself sick. i can only think it's to get attention? can anyone give me some tips on why and how to stop him from doing this please. i said to distract him with a toy or something.

I think you are exactly right....it's an attention thing. For some reason, he may not feel he is getting enough attention at home. The parent needs to talk to him, and maybe even the doctor, to discuss things.
