international move and behavior changes

Help!! My 15-month-old son and I just recently moved to Korea with my Army husband. My son barely knows his dad because our family has been separated during the past year, with my husband in Korea and us in the states with my mother. My son was a mild, well-mannered kid until the plane ride over here. Now he is screaming at the top of his lungs, throwing himself on the ground in tantrums, and has had difficulty sleeping and staying asleep. What can I do? Is this normal? How can I help him cope?

Re: international move and behavior changes

Hi

oh i'm so sorry to hear this, a big HUG for you. i'm no expert so all i can give you is what i'd do.

because his world has been turned upside down i'd 1st make things around him familiar, with all his old toys etc. then i'd paint his bedroom how it was back in the states etc. i'd also give my little one the Bach Flower Rescue Rememdy for the shock of the flight and the loss of the old life etc.. (but that's just me) and for him sleeping i'd take him into my bed (nothing new there :)) and sooth him to sleep with stories and singing and back rubs etc.

i do hope you both get to enjoy your new surroundings soon, best wishes and the best of luck. Lessa X
