Leon Boschee Obituary

Leon Boschee, 72, Wishek, died Aug. 13, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital.

Leon Boschee, the son of Emil and Pauline Boschee, was born Aug. 8, 1931, in McIntosh County near Wishek. He spent his childhood on the family farm near Wishek. Leon joined the National Guard Service Battery at Wishek in 1948. In 1951, the guard was activated and stationed at Camp Rucker, Ala. In 1952, he was transferred to the Far East Command and was part of the Army Occupation Force in Sendia, Japan with the 24th Infantry Division. He was honorably discharged in 1952.

On Nov. 9, 1952, he married Mabel Baumann in Wishek. The couple farmed in the Wishek area for five years. In 1957, Leon and Mabel moved into Wishek, where he was employed by Beaver Valley Distributing for 25 years. In 1982, Leon began employment with the City of Wishek as an assistant chief of police. He worked full time in that position for 14 years. He worked another six years part time for the Wishek and Napoleon police departments. He retired from duty in 2002.

Leon was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Wishek Lions Club and the Germans from Russia Society. He was also a member of the United Church of Christ Church in Wishek. He treasured time spent with family, hunting, fishing, sports, genealogy and woodworking.

Leon is survived by his wife, Mabel, Wishek; one son, Larry (Julie) Boschee, Bismarck; one daughter, Linda (Tom) Regner, Wishek; two grandsons, Tom Regner Jr. and his friend, Sara, Bismarck, and Jamie (Maria) Regner, West Fargo; one brother, Milbert (Emily) Boschee, Bismarck; two sisters, Wilma (Edwin) Thurn, Bismarck, and Ella Aipperspach, Aberdeen, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
