I just found out (thanks to this website) that i just bought a 1964 suburban. It runs great with only 10 hours since rebuild on the original motor. It came with tow plows, a set of discs and a cultivator; it does not have a mowing deck. I would love some info on this like how to get a manual since I have to reinstall the starter and some other parts that came with it. Can anyone help? I only paid 350.00 for it; did I get a deal?
Sadly, there were never any repair manuals produced for these tractors. And regarding your money question, I bought my '74 Suburban Suber 16 with a twin-cylinder Onan, mower deck, 3-pt. hitch, dozer blade, and snowblower for $500. I got my '67 Suburban Super 12 with a deck running, but not well, for free.
You didnt do bad..To rebuild the motor would cost $400 or more depending on who does it..You should be able to find a copy of the original owners book, but they are pretty much UNHELPFUL (thanks sears) to help you out...they just give you the convidence the screw it up (trust me I know)...but check in the yahoo groups, their are service books for the engines in some of them groups, and those are more helpful...
