Hi there!!! I'm coordinating a monthly event for the ladies who were born in and grew up in Central Preston from the late 1920's through the late 1950's. I'm also looking for photos or any historical information regarding the town that was named after Andrew Preston. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks very much!!! Also, is there a division over at Chiquita International that might have information like this?
Thanks for the post. You might want to try Ebay. There are often UFCo related photos there. You can set up an "automatic notification" (say, with the search word "Preston") and Ebay will send an email if anyone puts up a photo or material related to the town. If you have access to a research library or a good interlibrary loan service, you might want to look through the (many) volumes of UFCo annnual reports. Good luck in your search and your meetings! -ir
I have been doing some research on the history of Preston. I've not been able to find any proof that Preston was named for Albert Preston, though I feel certain it must have been. Did you, by chance, see it in print? Thanks.
