Re: San Nicola Da Crissa

Hi,

I live in Toronto Canada, and my granparents and father are from S. Nicola da Crissa. I noticed the name Malfara. My nonna's name before marriage is Marta Malfara (in her 70's). Malfara isn't a common name so I am assuming they are related. She had 1 sister (don't remeber her name). The family moved to Milan, then came here to Toronto...

Re: San Nicola Da Crissa

Rose,

I think Henry Holst is my great uncle. He was married to Maddie Cina. I think this was her second marriage. Am I right?

Re: San Nicola Da Crissa

I was just recently in San Nicola - I went through the cemetery and there were lots of names that were familiar to me from my childhood. Malfara and Pileggi, along with Galloro were all present numerous times. Malfara was my Nonna's maiden name before she married and her eldest sister's last name was Galloro.

I noticed the last name Galati - there is a supermarket chain called the Galati Brothers here in Toronto and they hail from San Nicola as well.
