I'm a new mum and have been doing a bunch of research on buying things I will actually "need" versus things I'd like to have. I stumbled onto this parenting blog which seems to suggest if you don't buy the best of everything, you're not as good of a parent. It was upsetting to say the least.
Why be upset? You don't have to believe this nonsense.
Babies don't need things. Your baby needs you. Keep your baby on your body and respond to every cue and you will be the best parent. Read some good parenting books like Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves, Your competent child, connection parenting... and listen to the CD set
Babies and Toddlers, to Tame or to Trsut (amazon has all of these.) Making you into the best mother is the only thing that counts. No gadget will replace a hug.
