If this is a recent change you may need to look beyond the lies for the reason and concentrate on finding that rather than any consequences for telling them. She may be having problems with her friends or be covering up for someone else or plain old fashioned peer pressure. Its seems unlikely she would start doing it for no reason if in the past she has been honest with you. Reassure her she can tell you anything and no matter what the truth is you will be there to help her resovle the problem.

Thank you so much for your reply. The more I talk to people, the more they are saying the same thing. We, as a family will be sitting down to talk about this and try to uncover any difficulties that she is having.
