Lack of concentration and disruptive behaviour in class

My 5 year old son seems to be having problems at school. He has always been a bright boy not seeming to struggle with his school work but over the last few weeks his new teacher has spoken to me nearly every evening saying he is being disruptive and inattentive in class. I have asked my son if he has any problems at school and he says not and every evening promises to behave well the next day. I had promised he could go to a friends party today but because his behaviour was disruptive again today I punished him by not letting him go.
I am at aloss at what to do next.
Any ideas?

Re: Lack of concentration and disruptive behaviour in class

Hi Danni,
I am in the same exact situation. My son is also 5 and he has been disruptive lately in class. So you're not alone. He seems more interested in talking and playing with his school friends than sitting down and doing his work. He also promises to do better the next day, but there hasn't been promising results. This problem really only started w/in the last 2 weeks. I'm at a loss as to what to do. So any advice would be greatly appreciated from someone.
