My 4 yr old son is disobediant, disruptive and has no respect for adults

Since starting school in September I am constantly being told by the teacher about my 4 yr olds disruptive and silly behaviour. He has no respect for the teacher, helpers or me and mimics them when being told what to do. He never listens to anything I say and will not do what I ask him to do without lots of shouting and threats. He answers me back and thinks its funny. Any advice out there on how to get to the bottom of this and discipline him?

I am having similar problems with my son at school, and as for the rudeness a lot of my friends children of the same age are behaving in the same way. I find it difficult to know who to talk to about it, have you tried talking to your child's teacher? The health visitors are no longer responsible for them when they go to school and there isn't a follow on person for us to turn to. it seems to be 'normal!' behaviour but i like you don't consider it acceptable.
