After many years of trying for a baby and seeing several specialists I have been told that yes you do have to ovulate to fall pregnant. However sperm can stay alive for up to 5 days in your body but the egg is alive for only 36 hours. You will have to know your body really well to know exactly when you ovulate as this varies from women to women and is not always on day 14 of the cycle!
