Live Performance - Improving vocals
If possible I'd like to get more info on how to improve my live performances. I find that my voice isnt loud enough and gets drowned out by the band even though I always feel like I'm singing to my maximum level. How can I get louder? Any tips please let me know. Thanks! |

Hi there Shayelak If necessary, you must get the band to turn down their instruments until you have developed more power and projection in your voice as there is nothing more damaging vocally than trying to compete with a band! Bands notoriously try to play louder than one another and get carried away particularly in a live situation, but you must address this with your band members before performing and ensure your mic is turned up so you can clearly hear yourself and that they don't try to drown you out. Do you use a vocal monitor so you can hear yourself better? This would help immensely. You need to address your breathing technique with a good singing tutor who will teach you exercises for developing vocal stamina and projection, but until then protect your voice and don't sing outside your means by shouting to be heard. Best of luck! Hannah x |
