Local Churches
I live in the North East area of Maryland (Elkton), and I wondered if anyone knows of a Universalist Church that is near me? Thanks! God Bless! Ronny |

Hello Neighbor. I once spoke to the Pastor of a Baptist Church (American Baptist Convention) on Red Lion Rd, in Bear Delaware. That's right across the state line from you. The Pastor said that there were many in his congregation who didn't believe that hell was forever, and that he himself had no problem with universal salvation as long as it was understood that salvation is through Christ. (But that was many years ago, and I don't know if he's still Pastor.) I myself attend the United Methodist Church, and there are many universalists in the Methodist denomination (The book "God Does Not Foreclose" was written by a Methodist Minister.) G-d Bless. P.S. If you ever want to get together for fellowship or Bible study I'd be more than happy to. |

I don't know, but any Christian Church (with a high regard for scripture, and some tolerance for minority views) should be able to provide fellowship. To fellowship only with those who believe in UR would be schismatic (and it would violate the following passage of scripture.) Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. (Romans 14:4-13.) |
