The fallen angels and Hebrews 2:16-17
"For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham's descendants. For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people." (Hebrews 2:16-17, NIV) I'm not sure how this verse could be accounted for if the fallen angels will be saved. I know it says "Abraham's descendants," but that could be taken to mean spiritual Israel rather than physical Israel (though it's worth taking into account Romans 9:7 - the physical descendants of Abraham are described with the same word used for "descendants" here). It appears to contradict Colossians 1:20 -- so how can these two passages be reconciled? |
