Hi everyone,

I'm seeking help.

If you know of any verses which add weight to the truth that God's love is eternal and that he will, in his time, save all men, please list them here. Together we should be able to compile a list and develop a potent argument.

I'll provide the first one. It is in Isaiah 24:21,22 and its alternative translation in the footnote in the NIV (I think that alternative makes more sense.)

This should be an interesting thread.

For the glory of God,

How much weight a passage adds to the teaching of universal salvation sometimes depends on the alternative that's being considered.

To an annihilationist, 1 Cor. 15:20-26 should be weighty.

In what sense is Christ the "firstfruits" of those who sleep?

And in what sense will all be "made alive" in Christ?

Christ was not the first to be raised from the dead.

In speaking of Old Testament times, Paul said:

Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection (Heb. 11:35.)

Elijah and Elisha raised the dead back to physical life before Jesus was born, and Jesus Himself raised Lazarus, a widow's son, and a man's daughter--but Jesus was the firstfruits of a better resurrection (a resurrection to immortality)!

And now, Christ hath risen out of the dead -- the first-fruits of those sleeping he became, for since through man [is] the death, also through man [is] a rising again of the dead, for even as in Adam all die, so also in the Christ all shall be made alive, and each in his proper order, a first-fruit Christ, afterwards those who are the Christ's, in his presence, then -- the end, when he may deliver up the reign to God, even the Father, when he may have made useless all rule, and all authority and power -- for it behoveth him to reign till he may have put all the enemies under his feet -- the last enemy is done away -- death (1 Cor. 15:20-26, Young's Literal Translation.)

For those who believe in eternal torment, it's difficult to see how God will ever be "All in All" (1 Cor. 15:28), or how all His works will praise Him (Psalm 145:10.)
