Just a question

I have noticed that there are quite a few UR folks out there who are content to just sit back and forget about everyone and everything except what they can get from God, yet in the early church, the Christians were willing to become martyrs, and were filled with a zeal to reach everyone. They spread the Word across the world, and didn't care what happened. There was an urgency in telling EVERYONE, and in telling them RIGHT NOW. They literally left all to preach this message.

What ever happened to that zeal? Just for discussion sake, why should we tell anyone, if all will be saved, anyway? I have it settled in my own life, but it is a subject which should be addressed, I think, for the sake of the body.

I believe that's true, but are these universalists alone in this?

Isn't this true of much of the Church today?

Didn't Jesus tell us "because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold" (Matt. 24:12)?

That's like saying "why should you tell a small child that a hot stove burns when they'll find out anyway?"

Re: Just a question

Right. I was trying to get some who might not have thought about it before to consider it. I believe we need to tell them in order that they don't have to go through the chastisement and correction some of us have (myself included). Why would I want to allow someone to live in misery for years, knowing that "some day" they would be reconciled? For me, that's the urgency. If it were my child or my wife I would do all I could get them out of trouble. How about my brother in the Lord?

Thanks, mike

Well said.

Thank you Mike.

Re: Just a question

I think we must tell them because they have to come around sooner or later. I doubt we are let out of doing our work just because we put it off.
