Death Penalty for Christian Converts?
There is now a man in Afghanistan (a "friendly" Muslim country, with a constitution we helped create) who faces execution because he became a Christian. It will be interesting to see how America, the U.N., and the E.U. handle this situation. We've issued protests, but the compromise being hinted at is a diminished capacity defense. If the man is mentally incompetent, the problem goes away. The old Romans had no problem with adding the gods of other people to their pantheon, but they had a hard time being "tolerant" of Christians (who didn't worship their gods.) In the same way, those who favor globalization, speak of tolerance, and believe that the only true religion is a combination of all religions, would seem to have a hard time being tolerant of those who convert from one faith to another. Any thoughts? |

Yes, there is disappointment here, unless this is what you expected. Our good friend Saudi Arabia also provides capital punishment for converting to Christianity from Islam. To be fair, we don't actually hear of them doing it very often. Apparently, they often feel more merciful when they take all your possessions and make you unemployable. And of course, your children are your possessions so they take them too. Some are not confident their religion can endure competition. When a majority feel this way, what is the result of democracy? I read today that Bush said he was "troubled" by the idea of killing converts in the defense of "faith." "When are people going to learn that democracy just doesn't work?!"--Homer Simpson --Ed |

I would prefer Monarchy--If Christ were on the throne. Humanly speaking, I think Winston Churchill hit on something when he said: "Democracy is the worst form of (human) government--except for all the other forms." God Bless. |

Thought I would share something I heard from my cousin recently. He has a grandson who married a Muslim girl whose family is from Afghanistan. They all live here now--the girl was born here. She converted to Christianity and her family immediately had a "funeral" for her. Her new husband (less than a year) has had to change his name and, in effect, go into hiding to avoid the numerous death threats which he has received. Even his mother has been threatened. So, even here in America, the intolerance of some Muslims is seemingly a problem. Why the police have done nothing about the aforesaid case, I do not know, since I am not privy to the whole story--I am relating hearsay info. and presuming my cousin is truthful. |

I see no reason to doubt him. Salmon Rushdie (A former Muslim, and author of a book on the Koran called "The Satanic verses") was a British subject when the Ayatollah Khomeini pronounced a death sentence on him, and he's still in hiding. I hope all who read these posts pray for your cousin's grandson (Your cousin himself, the boy's wife, and the boy's mother.) God Bless. |

Update: According to a news report I heard today, Rahman will soon be released--because the judge in the case has ruled that prosecutors failed to prove his sanity. If released, the case would still be under investigation, and he might be allowed to go into exile in a foreign country. I understand from other reports that Muslim clerics have threatened to incite Afghans to kill Rahman if he's released. They say he clearly violated Islamic Shariah law by rejecting Islam. I also understand he's been asking guards for a Bible, and the Muslim authorities say they don't have any to give him. In an interview with an Italian Newspaper (La Repubblica), Rahman said "I am serene. I have full awareness of what I have chosen. If I must die, I will die, Somebody, a long time ago, did it for all of us." |

He was released Monday, and: ...hundreds of clerics, students and others chanting "Death to Christians!" marched through the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif to protest the court decision... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060328/ap_on_re_as/afghan_christian_convert_78 |

I seen the pics of christians being persecuted and killed. I was about to throw up, I have a weak stomach. There is someone out there who deserves to be justly persecuted, that is Satan, since he's the one who started the whole thing, I will rejoice when we see him in terrible pain. |
