My thoroughbred has collapsed pastons. I think this may also be called coon feet.
To describe it.... He has very long paston bones that are at a sharp angle. This makes his fetlocks lower (at times they are only an inch or two from the ground).
I had a farrier come to see if he can have corrective shoeing. However, he says he can not help and that long term, the horse will need to be put down as they will get worse as he gets older. (He is only 11 years now, so maybe in 6-8 years time).
I live in a part of Australia where there are few horse vets... Can anyone tell me more about this bad conformation problem and anything I can do? |
