Dunblane Sketepark
I would like to set down my objections to this disgraceful proposal to construct a skate park in the Laighills. This beautiful Park donated to the people of Dunblane will be despoiled by the introduction of a mass concrete structure in an area of scenic beauty. Access to this area by the heavy plant will seriously damage the access pathways to the proposed areas and one would assume that the money being raised for construction will also cover the reinstatement of any damage caused. Will the Fund also raise and retain sufficient funds for the maintenance of Skate park and its removal after the fad has passed or will it be left to deteriorate and become and eyesore akin to the BMX Bike Track at the back of the Laighills. What provision will be made for the tidiness of the area, I recognise that the front of the Park is not well maintained as is evident from the broken glass and bottles found there every morning. I accept this is an ongoing problem, however this skate park will only exacerbate the problem as will the lack of Public Toilet facilities. I presume all of these issues have been taken on the shoulders of the lady who is championing this issue and trust that she will continue her interest e.g. litter and demolition after her children are no longer interested. In all I fell this is an ill-conceived plan and the immediacy of the wish is outstripping long-term repercussions. |
