an interesting question occurred to me for sealed. assuming your familiar with most of the synths on your site, what's your favorite brand of synthesizer? or better yet, your favorite specific synthesizer? and if those questions are both too specific, maybe you could go into the strengths that you like best about different synth brands. thanks. |

Hi, jared! Thanks for your interest, and I'm sorry for being very late. Brands; My best favourite is KAWAI - sounds fat and versatile with simple architecture. Next; Roland: makes synths for synths's sake, though there's some compromise. CASIO: always rewarding for the price. YAMAHA: waiting for the newer (but compact) version of SY99. ENSONIQ: I wish they lived longer. Synths; KAWAI K1: still the best synth for me. YAMAHA DX7: simple and versatile. ENSONIQ VFX: sounds big. ENSONIQ SQ-80: warm and versatile. YAMAHA SY77: everything is there, with deep and dark sounds. Roland JV-880: fat sounds. Roland XP-50: synthetic flexibility. KORG M1: warm rompler. And my current favourite: Roland S220 - very easy 12-bit sampler. I started to collect cheap synths, expecting to find something fit better to me than K1 and SY77. I couldn't find the true ultimate synth, but I came to like every uniqueness of every synth. I hope to hear your comments about brands and synths. |
