Lets discuss this one its heavy! (conspiracy theory)

This topic needs plenty discussion from you people who read it so lets go! open discussion.
Do you think the judgement given to Wizkids and pan wizards was fair in this year's Junior and Senior panorama? In my opinion nah! that is conspiracy theory.....summm is definitely wrong.....lets start with Wizkids...obviously they had the best music in the junior panorama the best arranged song clearly! so what happened to the judges did they not hear was it a predetermined position by other forces? cus honestly they did not deserve it....i mean listen to it again when you get a chance GBN has the tapes of the frolic......now well lets talk about the 6th Position given to the senior band Suzuki pan wizards! wasnt that the most ridiculous judgement? where did they get those judges? This band had some of the best music saturday night one of the most anticipated song and band people was generally disgusted with the results....so lets talk someone tell me how "Panlovers,Florida,Angelharps,Dimension And Commancheros" beat wizards Satuday night?

listen man nobody here aint crying people need to know these things as the listening public i need to know how can a band sound sooo good and when the results come out is something else....that is why calypsonians and other stakeholders stop putting their energies into competition because it is not fair at all! i mean where is king ajamu in this years carnival competitions? next year we might be asking the same question of Wizkids and Panwizards cus they were not treated fairly. i hope that is not the case and we see these two bands blasting away for dem next year........cus i'm looking forward to it!

you wanted a discussion here goes. Sound nice is not a criteria on the judges scoresheet? The tune selections were also horrible. It is very difficelt to get a chord structure going on a DJ tune.

Do you have a copy of Panwizards performance? 70% of the tune has nothing to with the baisc song? Where did thee development come from?....one is left to conclude that music was copy and pasted.

The only reason they did not come last was because of the tonal quality and size of corinthians and Grand Roy.

Don't dis-respect Ajamu and put him in wizards league.

first of all let me laugh cus i think what you said is kinda funny and your statements were made without much thought! let me address your first statement about sound nice.......wizards didnt just sound nice they sounded excellent if you listening you have to dance..after all its music....and music has to satisfy a set of guidelines and rules yes but if it ent sound good then what is de point of playing music how are you going to enjoy it as a panist and the people listening to it.....the day panorama songs stop satisfy the people meaning it ent have no vibes and it only satisfy a set of rules for three people sitting down on a table who scratching dey ass, who thinking about way dey going after, dey woman or man horning dem, and dey ent checking on de music going down is de dey ah stop come to panorama. 2. de way you talk ah realise you ent know much about music and you is ah talker yuh like to talk about things yuh ent know about.....jah pan......a good arranger can take any song and make a masterpeice of an arrangment with it..."mary had a little lamb" for instance so wha you talking about chords structure and copy and paste...ah pity you...cus you doh know...music these days musicians does do all kinda craziness with chord structure you madd or what....and once you are an artist and you have a good imagination and knowledge of music you can arrange music and it must be enjoyable to the public as well as satisfy what de judges looking for.....and wizards did that with their piece....and ah see you ent too bright to understand de comparison ah was trying to make with ajamu and wizards so ah wouldnt comment.....bigups and keep the topic alive ah like it too

see now you start de-valuing the judges. Aight here is my merit again since you missed my point:
1. Wiz Kids played traffic which had a walking bass line, really a camboulay bass.Old time Calypso 2/2. That is the only thing you hear in the developments, trust me I have a copy here. The chord structure is 1 4 5 4 and moves to 1 4 5 which is basic in calypso. Most of the arrangements were 1625 which again is very common and becomes monotonous; even to the listening public.
2.Wizards(senior) played traffic, don't get me wrong any "good" arranger can take any song and make it into a masterpiece. However this was a very difficult song to work since it has no body, listen the original tune and tell me the chord structure you are hearing. I will tell you what I hear but let's test your "expert" opinion. Also the arrangements have little or nothin to do with the original song which leads me to believe pleasurism. Alot of riffs and jams that has no association with the tune, I think the interpretation was way off. Maybe if they played Berbice traffic it would have been a better interpretation.

Ajamu is a very good friend of mines and I believe competition does him an injustice, I also believe you are degraing the master by putting him in that league.

My apologies......I had the right song but I typed the wrong name. I do have a Keyboard and a music degree. Again you are turning to hear say and not musical facts. You are yet to give me a musical reason why pan wizards is supposed to place higher other than they soung sweet. Listen to the song and list them out for me! Where is the development what motivs did the arranger use? Tonal quality...note well not just sound but use of the different voices in the band.

andre- jahpan. how suddenly you are the authority on pan music, you won two panorama competitions ,be humble and try to continue learning, you already start showing little respect to other arrangers....

here you are critising pan wizards music and the arranger, but if you are honest , you will admit that pan wizards just didnt perform well onstage....but they had some of the better arranged music on the night....
you were outside ,right next to pan wizards ,you heard for yourself...
and you talk of your degree, pardner, peck dont have a degree, blaize dont have one ,teloti , dont have one len sharpe dont have one , but they all produce good music....

a tip to the wise, dont allow what three judges say to swel your ego...
take your brother andy as an example....he is a qualified musician ,he judges in trinidad and across the caribbean,but he is yet to win a competition at home, does that make his no good....do blow you trumpet too hard,alow others to do it for you....

we are struggling to much for pan in grenada to be fighting and pulling each other down like that...you are young, enjoy the moments and be respectful....

Thanks for the praise my brother, But you have the wrong man. Why are you trying to drag peoples names into this.I will love to sit in an open forum with you and you might be amazed to know I never played a pan inme life, but Iknow a whole lot more than you do!!!!!!Again you 2 is missing my point, the gentle man/woman started a discussion and you are straying from the point, tell us something musical about the different performances, that merit their relative position. Not just sound sweet.......Angel Harps have the sweetest sounding pan in the land but you never hear them win for sounding good, is the music that their lay down. Let me give you some food for thought, is it easier to wirte an esssay and get a topic or have a topic and write an essay?

Pan Wizards had a bad run....i can say with distinction that the judges had a problem hearing the band cus dey were so far away....but it is undeniable that "traffic" was well arranged given the limited material to work with...
