Message:   First off Frank, if the antenna is fed with 300 ohms,it is not a dipole. A single frequency dipole is 70 ohms. What you are considering is like a G5RV multiband antenna. Check out construction plans on the net for this antenna. The 300 ohm feeder should be around 34 feet if I remember correctly. Some plans say to connect the coax directly to the 300 ohm line and others say to use a balun. I've heard pros and cons for both ways so a little experimentation will let you know which works best for you. Fortunately DX Engineering makes current baluns so if you need it, this is the correct style balun to use. If you decide to run a different length of 300 line, the patterns will be distorted and you may have some bands that work better and others that don't work at all. Hope this helps. 73
