Thanks Bill I would love to see a pix of your jbeam. The corner feed was a piece of acrylic but any insulating material could be used. The antenna does fire off the corner because the feed is off to one side. This is the only reason I did not sell the design to Degen antennas. Most hams wouldn't buy it.The skyhopper would be great for newbies as it is very forgiving of dimension errors and could be made of anything. The verticals could even be coathanger wire although it would lower the bandwidth. Of all the ones we built, we only had one that didn't perform great and had a match problem and we never did discover what was wrong. Make sure you let the coax droop away from the arms. Al |
