I have a chinchilla a male he is 1 1/2 years old, he as fur around his eye which is like curls up and looks damp he occasionaly get white stuff in the corner of his eye, it ha sbeen liek that for ages can anybody advise any thing, he seems fine but just does not looks very attractive, does any one suggest anything and again id like to say it has been like it for ages and doesnt seem to be causing him a problem.

Hi Joseph, I'd recommend that you bathe the eye gently with camomile tea (brew tea in cup then once cool remove the teabag - use this to bathe the eye). Also, if there is a dustbath in the cage, remove it and when you let your chinnie out for his exercise and playtime put the dustbath down then before putting him back in his cage, bathe the eye.
