Hi
i have a 5 year old chin and was wondering wether or not he would be able to be kept outside either in a large hutch or a shed.
i know he needs to be kept away from drafts but would it be ok or should we keep him indoors?
any advice on this matter would be appreciated

Hi, My advice is ABSOLUTELY NOT unless the shed / hutch is heated, insulated, well ventilated, rain-proof etc. etc. which we know is almost impossible! Chinchillas are not outdoor pets (even though they orginate from the Andes). If you do go ahead and keep the poor thing outside, you won't be a chinchilla owner for long - he'd suffer and end up passing on to chinnie heaven! Liz, Administrator & Advisor of CCL.
