Poor Zeppys' eye

Hello
I was wondering if anyone out there has had success in curing their chin from psuedomonas?(a bacterial infection, mine has it in his eye) My boy has had it for 4 and a half months now.He has been given Fucithalmic eye ointment, then Chloramphenicol and after a swab to see what was going on we then found out it is psuedomonas and he now has Genticin which I have been using for about a month now. I just feel so sorry for him and want him better.
Thanks.

Re: Poor Zeppys' eye

Hi Kelly, I feel for you - there is nothing worse than a poorly chin, it makes one feel so helpless! I have found that Camomile Tea is magic - which Roger taught me - let the tea bag infuse for about five minutes or so then let it cool. Once cool gently wipe Zeppy's eye. I use Camomile Tea for all my animals not just my chins and it has not let me down yet . I really hope this helps and please keep us informed on Zeppy. Take care and good luck, Liz CCL

Re: Poor Zeppys' eye

Hi Liz - thanks for your advice. The tea bag certainly seems to help with the inflammation and his eye does look better, but Zeppy will need to have oral antibiotics, probably a tablet or capsule to kill the bacterial infection. Can you suggest a 'safe' food probably in a paste or thick liquid form so I can mix the tablet in to disguise it? I don't want to give him a tummy upset. The vet suggested honey,I put a tiny bit on a spoon for him to lick off and he seemed to like it. I know how easily the wrong foods can make chins ill. Thanks in advance for your help.
Kelly.

Re: Poor Zeppys' eye

Hi Kelly, Camomile tea always helps me with my chinnies and my dogs (Thelma & Louise) so I am thrilled it had worked for Zeppy! I would recommend that you put the antibiotic in a little fruit yoghurt (if it is capsule open same and sprinkle contents in the yoghurt or if tablet crush and do the same). Alternatively you can try using a syringe full of camomile tea with a little honey - both these methods usually work. Good luck Kelly. Please do let us know how you get on. Take care, Liz
