Skinny Chin

As readers of earlier post will know Noco, my five & a half year old silver male had to have his teeth attended too last week. It's now 8 days post op & he is eating, but only very small amounts & is being very very picky. I know from other posts on the site that lots of you have Chins that have had to have dental treatment so I'd appreciate any advice on how long it's likely to be before my skinny chin is back to the same size as his brother!

Re: Skinny Chin

Hi Rae,I don't really now how long it will take for your chin to get back to normal, but when a dental problem starts, you and your vet have to keep on top of it,chins teeth are like rats they grow all the time and it maybe that your chin will have to visit the vet, about once every four weeks or so.but I would discus this with my vet if I was you,I do hope things work out for you and your chin please keep in touch and let us now how things are going,Ray Milne for CCL

Re: Skinny Chin

thanks for the kind wishes Ray.

Not sure if it's related, but over the last couple of days Noco has become a real heat seeker. He's either on top of the radiator or on me. Right now he's fast asleep ontop of a funfur covered hot water bottle! He is eating very little & clearly struggling to do so & i remain very worried about the little fella.

I think i've read a post somewhere on the site from someone else with a heat seeking chin but can't find it to establish why....anyone got any ideas before I make another appointment with the vet & risk being tagged an over zealous chin owner?

Re: Skinny Chin

HiRae, Please try to keep your chins away from too much heat as they are very susceptible to heatstroke! I cannot reiterate this enough! One of my beautiful chins, Presley, loved sitting on the hoover whilst I cleaned his room but one day he "overheated" and was dead within 10 minutes! So try and encourage your little one away from heated areas. Take care and keep us posted, Liz CCL

Re: Skinny Chin

Liz thanks for the advice....I always keep the heating low in the boys room but have now turned it off!
On the positive side, the little tinker is eating better now so whatever the reason for the heat seeking he's clearly feeling a little more like himself. He's also up to mischief which is much more Noco like behaviour. As a precaution we're off to see the vet too just to check progress on his teeth and his weight & I'll risk being considered over protective!

Re: Skinny Chin

I myself am glad to hear your chin has picked himself up a bit and is eating a lot better,I think Liz's advice may have done the trick and she will also be happy for you as well, Ray Milne CCL
