new to site.

Hi I have a light grey coloured chinchilla called charlie, who is now 3yrs old. Charlie has had a troubled-some life so far with chest infections. He is a very happy chap normaly and so friendly, charlie is very much spoilt in the morning he won't go to bed untill he has had his crust from some toast! I don't know how long charlie will last with these chest infections, but it is a great pleasure to have him.

Re: new to site.

Hi Marion, Firstly thank you for your 'Forum' entry, secondly welcome to 'Chinchat'. You'll find our website composite and interesting with a great team ready to answer questions. Now re: Charlie, has been treated by the vet, with perhaps anti-biotics [possibly Baytril]?.Use some camomile tea laced with a tiny amount of honey, it will be a calming factor. An inhalent may ease the infection somewhat have a consultation with your vet. Chinchillas are quite robust, suffering from little ailments [with the exception of dental problems, which is quite prevalent]. Has he, a great appetite does he gnaw at bark wood and other wooden objects?. This is very important for chinnies, his general behaviour, is it good?. Do not keep im in damp or draughty areas. Hope this has helped.best wishes.Roger. C.C.L.
