Message:   hi there my name is eddie, i am originally from Thailand, i now live and work in Australia and new Zeland. In the last 4 - 5 years i have had many chances visiting india and Goa.

Most of the things about Goa were all good, the weather was great, the Goan people were friendly and honest, nice beaches, and possibly one of the safest places in india that i have been.

having said that i have some concerns about the future of Goa as a whole.

my concern is about the negative impacts of the influx of NON goans to Goa.

i have noticed a lot of nagative things which unfortunately being carried out by indians of non goan origins.

These include a number of slums which have been mushrooming in a lot of areas.

The jokes and the disrespectful attitudes of these outsiders towards the goans.(espectially to the goan females)

90% of the crimes which i observed from the medias while i was there were all committed by non Goans ( form U.P. from M.P. etc.), it is not uncommon to hear the news that some westerners were raped or robbed in Goa, it can be almost 100% guarunteed that it was commited by non goans!!

i realise that the people of india have the right to go and settle wherever they want to within the republic and a lot of them decided to come and seach for their luck in Goa. But Goa is a small place it surely can not sustain steams of people from all over India.

Being an ousider myself i really think that the people of Goan origins anywhere in the world (i am actually quite surprised to come across a few of them in different coutries!!) should get together and do something about these situation, i dont know how it can be corrected (definately not from the politicians!!!) but something need to be done before it is too late!!

it willbe very sad to see Goa ending up like bombay where the natives become minority!!.

it will be very sad to see Goa being overun by NON goans where cheatings and malpractices are facts of life like in other parts of india.

it will be very sad for tourists like me and others to travel to Goa and get robbed or made fun of or get hassled by those non Goans who might have just come from Gujarat or Kanataka etc.

it will be sad to see Konkani reduced into just another defunct and lost language of Goa.

And for the sake of Goan cultures, Goan children, Goan history, Goan society and lifestyles, i think all the Goans (Catholics, Hindus, Muslims etc) should unite and take back the land of goa before it is too late!!!
