Tough Draw at Pagnell
Firstly, and most importantly, best wishes to Michael Evans following his early injury following a collision with Shrieves. Our keeper has made such a collosal difference to the sides confidence and form we can ill afford to be short his extraordinary talent between the sticks.Definetely got my vote for Player of the Season and I hope the leg/ankle injury is not as first appears. With Michael Stanton doing his Rio Ferdinand by gaining the keeper jersey, he also let in a penalty and at that point, it looked ominous that Ar Tarn would struggle. However, superstriker Michael Byrne equalised ten mins later, and deservedly we went in at half-time equal. The second half we were dominant and it took to the 52nd minute before the ever-improving Paul Caswell gained us the lead, pouncing on a long clearance from Gilsenan.Amazing that he can pass perfectly from 60 yards from not 12!...only jesting Gilly!! On 75mins,and shortly after a challenge from Shrieves-our stand in keeper was replaced by our third keeper of the game, seriously imbalancing the back four. So,if you're still with me- Evans was replaced by Stanton- Stanton replaced by Logan. With four minutes remaining Pagnell equalised following a soft free-kick. Jegsy almost gave us the win in injury time but time ran out. Unfortunately another draw along with the others we should have won this season, but I'm not going to knock a side that has done so well this season- Cannot wait for August 2008 when next season will be immense. Our friends at Stotfold had their game abandoned with St Neots following erm, fisticuffs....what a surprise- the sooner they either get promoted or kicked out the better.... what irony that the ET commented on Stotfold's antics today as well. At the end of the day, well done to our lads, every one of them. I had the offer of hospitality at Old Trafford today, and believe me,I'm glad I was watching Ar Tarn- and will ALWAYS chose that option, because I believe in our squad. |

Would like to comment on UCL website but still waiting to get account approved. Someone on there said Shrieves was a decent player that most UCL teams would like leading their front line ! How many shots did Pagnell have ? Molly had him in his pocket. Given his penchant for clattering keepers and wrestling defenders to the ground (mostly when the ball had long gone and the ref was looking the other way)I think he would be best suited to a team that only played 43mins on Saturday and I don't mean St.Neots. The ref had a good game by the way. |

Someone being.......!!!! I see Vinny as an old style centre-forward (I'm sure you remember them porthos!!)that will usually score throughout a season and cause central defenders problems...however, I wouldn't swap any of our current forwards for him...whether it be Byrnesy,Jegs,Caswell... |

I well remember old style centre forwards. We frequently stand spectating with the legendary Desborough striker of that type. I am sure he could tell you a thing or two about winding up defenders and intimidating keepers. Thing is the game has moved on and I just thought Shrieves wasn't in the same class. Incidentally the AGM starts at 7:30 not 8. No more late tackles please. |
