Deeping Draw
Lost the chance to break clear behind Stotfold today.Personally,I thought we were fortunate to go 2 up and ultimately to gain a point.HOWEVER,to view this game with those tinted glasses,we need to reflect on exactly where we are now and the expectation that has finally arisen at the Waterworks. Deeping were clearly the better team today.Yet, we went 2 up through Jegs and Gilly,but sat back,looking to score on breaks. It may have been because Tom Mills was missing,but our midfield let Deeping run the game their way today-they are still a very very good side and right in the mix with ourselves. I think we were lucky today,but if Byrnesy had buried that shot with a couple of minutes to go,we'd walk away with three points and maybe not recognise our fortune. I was even starting to think with some irony that the only team beating Deeping last season home and away was Ar Tarn,and this season they would have done it to us..a sure sign that we will be champions!! If you say today was a bad day,we scored twice,gained a point from the champions-something we'd have settled for last season.The goalposts have changed. |
