Second Spot!!!!
Ar Tarn moved into second spot in the UCL with a well-deserved win at Blackstones. Desborough went behind against the run of play in the 12th minute from a Luke Kennedy header. Gilsenan equalised on 20 minutes with a low shot, turning the tide back towards the Town. The 30th minute saw a definite penalty when Paul Caswell was brought downin the box,yet the referee ( Wilson) saw the initial tackle outside the box and gave a free kick. Jock McClarty gave us the lead in the 57th minute.Byrnesy came on in the 70th minute to score a superb brace -the first showing extraordinary pace to burst past two defenders and shoot across the keeper (82nd minute) and three minutes later securing the victory with a well-controlled shot following a corner. The last few minutes saw two excellent saves from Michael Evans and a consolation from Blackstones. Outstanding this afternoon were the tireless Michael Sneddon (performing as we've been waiting for him to do) and of course Byrnesy's cameo appearance as he eloquently put it with a smile on his face! By the way,the ref was outstanding-no bookings,let the game flow and consistent throughout. Great performance-Stotfold we're after you. Team: Evans,Stanton,Logan,Pownall,Keall,Mills,MClarty (replaced by Ben Armstrong 67min), Sneddon,Caswell,O'Neill (replaced by Byrne 70min), Gilsenan. Unused sub Glyn Davies |
